Canada Internships and Co-Op Programs
Various Internship and Co-Op programs are offered by Canadian Colleges and Universities to enhance students’ practical skills in international work experience along with academic curriculum. Internship and Co-Op programs help students to spend alternating semesters between learning in the classroom and then applying that knowledge through an on the job internship in their field of study. Co-Op or internship programs are also an excellent way for the students to earn money during the school semester and to enhance their resume with work experience and invaluable business contacts.
A student must fulfill the following requirements to be eligible for internship and Co-Op programs:
- Possess a valid study permit.
- The intended employment must be an essential part of the program of study in Canada.
- The intended employment must also form a part of the academic program requirement.
- The duration of the intended Co-op or Internship employment cannot be more than 50% of the total program of study.
International students who want to opt for Co-Op or internship program must need a work permit.
